This weekend was the first weekend of the semester when it wasn’t either, 1. freezing cold or 2. snow on the ground. Therefore, students took advantage of the March weather to start repairing the Loy Farms beds that have been ravaged upon all winter long. Right now, the beds are not a pretty sight, so prepare yourself for a desolate sight.
Laying down compost on these beds already make a huge difference for getting the beds ready for planting again. But first, students weeded the beds to get them ready for the compost.
After weeding was done, it was time to shovel the compost and spread it up and down the beds. A lot of work, but an exciting, albeit small, step for the spring crops!
