This week gardening has been put on the back burner because there is something very important coming up. That’s right, its the first ever Fall Pumpkin Festival! This Friday (so soon!), the community garden class and its neighbor, the Elon Hillel Center, are hosting a Fall Pumpkin Festival at the garden from 2:00-5:00 pm. There will be pumpkin inspired food, music, face-painting, a photo booth, a pumpkin carving contest, and good times with great people!
Foods include pumpkin bread, pumpkin cupcakes, pumpkin pie, butternut squash stew, roasted pumpkin seeds, hot apple cider, and more!
Most importantly, this event is a NO waste event. This means some of the food and drink will be served in compostable cups, but no other utensils will be provided. Instead, bring your own reusable mugs and utensils, and any uneaten food can be composted in the composting bins.
Right now the weather seems perfect and we are hoping for a big turnout. Grab some friends and come out to the garden on Friday and we’ll see you there!
